Frequently Asked Questions

What is T-Shirt Yarn?

We’re glad you asked. T-Shirt Yarn is a crafting product made with the remnants of the textile industry. When a clothing company manufactures a t-shirt, or a bed spread, or even a swimsuit, there is inevitably going to be leftover fabric. We use that fabric that would otherwise go in a landfill and have it sliced up into strips, sewn together, and rolled into a skein for your knitting pleasure. It’s every bit as eco-friendly as it is pretty.

What can I make with it?

The better question is “what can’t you make with it?” People have made pretty much everything with it; cellphone cases, beanies, purses, headbands, infinity scarves and laptop cases are just a few of the things that come to mind. Our yarn is soft, but tough, and can take on the wear and tear of everyday life. Want some inspiration? See our T-Shirt Yarn Creations board on Pinterest.

Do you offer bulk discounts?

We sure do! Email us with the number of skeins you're looking to purchase and we'll work out a bulk rate for you. The more you order, the better your rate.

Do you do combined shipping?

Absolutely. As a matter of fact, the more skeins you order at once the less you pay in shipping per skein. Please let us know your full shipping info as well as which skeins you’re looking to purchase and we’ll get you the lowest shipping rate possible. We compare Fedex, DHL, UPS, and USPS to see which has the best prices for you.

Do you ship internationally?

We most certainly can. We don’t have it available as an option at checkout (for the time being) because you’re more likely to get a more accurate shipping cost if we get one for you manually. Just let us know your full shipping info, and which skeins you were planning on ordering. International customers are responsible for paying all duties, taxes, and tariffs on their orders.

Can I be featured on your social media pages?

Sure! We love showcasing all the awesome, creative stuff our customers make. If you have high quality pictures please email them to us with your Instagram username in the subject line so we can tag you. You're sure to get a few new followers.

How eco-friendly is it?

It’s a completely recycled material. We use the remnants of the textile industry and turn that excess fabric into something beautiful and usable. Everything one of our skeins has its own little story. Maybe it was going to be a pillowcase, or a t shirt, or a bikini. All we know is that now it's a lovely little bundle of Fab-U-Loop t-shirt yarn. EPA studies show up to 4.5% of our landfills are still comprised of textile waste. Although 2.5 billion pounds of clothing and household textiles are recycled annually, it is estimated that this represents only 20% of all textile waste. By using those leftover textiles to make t-shirt yarn, we're making a small but important impact towards reducing waste

Our crochet hooks are all made from real bamboo. Lightweight, comfortable in your hand, and resilient; bamboo was the obvious material to use. It’s 100% biodegradable and has antibacterial properties unlike metal or plastic hooks. Give them a try and you'll see why people are making the switch to bamboo.
